MEMORIAL PAGE - WE REMEMBERWe wish to especially remember and pay special tribute to the men of Bravo Company, who on July 12, 1967 were killed when the Second and Third platoons were over-run by the NVA. 32 fellow soldiers perished during an engagement against hostile forces during combat operation "FRANCIS MARION" in Pleiku Province, South Vietnam. Six men were taken as POWS by the NVA. 1 died in captivity, Sgt James VanBendegom. His remains were identified in 2014 and a full military funeral was conducted in his home town of Kenosha, Wisconsin. (See Video) 32 Red Warriors who perished during Operation FRANCIS MARION and 1 died in Captivity. This was the single-most costliest battle during the four years the Red Warriors were in Vietnam.
